Consent & GDPR

Hold tracking until the visitor agrees, with one flag and one line of JavaScript.

Require consent

On the site page tick Require cookie consent. From then on the script sets no cookies and sends nothing until the visitor agrees. Events made before that are held in the page and sent when consent is given.

Grant it from your cookie banner

// when the visitor accepts marketing cookies
trk('consent', true);
// or, if your banner already uses Meta's API
fbq('consent', 'grant');

// when they decline or withdraw
trk('consent', false);

The choice is remembered for a year in a first-party cookie (_trk_consent).

GDPR notes

  • You are the controller of your visitors' data; TrackPilot processes it for you. Our Data Processing Agreement covers this.
  • Personal data (email, phone, name…) is hashed on arrival; IP and user agent are passed to Meta as required for matching. Event logs are deleted after 7 days.
  • Mention server-side forwarding to Meta in your own privacy policy.
